UNIQUE COFFEE BREAKS

As you already know, a good event is an event where everything has been thought through to the smallest of details. Of course, it’s crucial to make sure all the important meetings and seminars are going well, but it’s just as important to think about breaks, as this is when we recharge our batteries to be fresh for the next speech or activity. Traditionally people enjoy coffee and snacks during meeting breaks, but why not stir things up a bit and change the tradition? How about offering people 15 minutes of energizing exercises, express beauty treatments, or a sauna ritual? At Vihula, you can also send people to the spice garden to pick their own mint leaves for a cocktail. Surely that all sounds more interesting than the old coffee and snack, doesn’t it?

DINING

Vihula Manor features some of the most remarkable and beautiful dining rooms in all of Estonia! The elegant Vihula Manor Restaurant is located on the 1st floor of the Main Manor House and overlooks the estate. From the big windows of this second-floor restaurant, you can admire beautiful views of the manor park and enjoy exciting  new flavours. The dishes have an interesting concept behind them – a manor style upgrade to hearty, traditional, Estonian countryside meals. Some recipes even come from the manor’s historical cookbooks, so be ready for surprises. Seating over 100 guests, the elegant and stylish interior combines original parquet floors and ceiling ornaments with modern Scandinavian furniture.

Of course, the manor also has a wine cellar, and if you just fancy a dessert or a simple sandwich, we recommend checking out the Water Mill Cafe. Yes, at Vihula you can enjoy your coffee or beer in a functioning watermill. The Water Mill Café seats 15 guests inside and another 25 guests on the Summer Terrace, serving snacks, drinks and cocktails.

Another traditional Estonian venue for a quick lunch or dinner is Kaval-Ants Tavern. In the historic Ice Cellar you will get a feel for how Estonians used to eat. Limestone walls are decorated with farm tools and waitresses walk around in traditional costumes. There’s also the possibility to organise a folk-dance show upon request. Kaval-Ants Tavern can seat up to 100 guests over 2 floors.

Vihula also offers different food-based activities for groups such as a workshop on making handmade candies and truffles. You can also learn how to make Vihula Manor’s signature cocktail. If the weather is nice, you can organise a picnic in the park.

SPA

Vihula Manor eco-SPA is a boutique spa in the peaceful countryside, a place to escape from busy daily life and indulge yourself. This completely new and unique ecological spa concept combines heritage, nature, and luxury with contemporary comfort and modern technologies.

ACTIVITIES

Maybe you’re wondering what there is to do in the national park after work hours or during your team building event? Actually, Vihula manor has a lot to offer.

For starters, why not book a tour of the manor house? Or learn about the flavours and legends of vodka distillery? A  golf cart tour will be a lot of fun, as will be a tour of the park by horse and carriage. The brave at heart can also book a bear watching event.

Another fun way to immerse yourself into the rich history and culture of the manor is through all kind of hands-on activities. Learn how to make salt scrub, felt soap, and make your own berry schnapps.

It might also be a great idea to get creative after a full day of work. Making something beautiful will help relieve stress and allow you to be in the moment. How about trying to felt a poppy broochor let your creative juices flow with porcelain painting? An awesome workshop is offered where you can make a vase or lamp from an old bottle. Alternatively, why not transfer a photo onto wood?

If your group consists of active, sporty, and outdoor people then don’t keep them indoors for longer than necessary. Let them row a boat on the pond, get together for a long bicycle ride or have some fun playing minigolf  in a game called “Tour the Baltics”. There are also a couple of nice hiking trails close to the manor and don’t forget to ask about walking sticks for nordic walking.

But of course, there’s no better way to relax than to use the manor house spa. Make a couple of laps in a pool and sweat out afterwards in a smoke, steam, or juniper sauna. The idea of going into a sauna with your colleagues may sound strange at first, but know that it is a very common practice in Estonia and a great way to get to know the local culture. And if you feel like the 80-95 C saunas are a bit much, then there’s also an option to visit the manor lady’s sauna sanarium, where the temperature is much lower.

It’s definitely worth checking out the variety of spa treatments at the  eco-SPA.

Various programs and small group activities are available for a nice relaxing day at Vihula Manor:

  • Treatments at the Eco Spa
  • Biking tours in the vicinity
  • Riding horseback
  • Masterclass in painting or photography
  • Cooking course
  • Tours to nearby Rakvere or Käsmu Maritime Museum or Viinistu Art Museum
  • other options according to interest / availability

ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES AND GREEN KEY

Vihula Manor has proudly held the Green Key eco-label since 2011, signifying their environmentally sustainable activities. On a daily basis, they measure their energy and water consumption, take care of waste management, keep their buildings warm with geothermal heating and produce electricity with solar panels. Vihula Manor also takes measures to reduce water consumption and invites their guests to save water during washing. The manor even has its own garden and greenhouse, where herbs and fresh garden produce are grown, which then find use in their kitchen and delight the guests. To further raise awareness among their guests and to introduce the nature-friendly initiatives of the manor, Vihula Manor annually organises an educational Green Day.
