Visit to the KUMU Art Museum
KUMU, the main building of Art Museum of Estonia, serves both as national gallery and a centre for contemporary art. The museum was opened in 2006 and is a modern architectural masterpiece carved into a limestone cliff. KUMU appeals to varied audiences, displaying classics of Estonian art starting from the 18th century while its temporary exhibitions focus mostly on contemporary art. In 2008, KUMU won the European Museum of the Year Award. To bring art alive, a visit to the museum can be enhanced by a hands-on-graphics workshop, an experimental tour of the museum and/or a private, live performance by musicians or dancers.
