Covid-19 Information
The government of Estonia has declared an emergency situation due to the pandemic spread of the coronavirus in the world and the likely further spread of the virus within Estonia. Unless decreed otherwise by the government, the emergency situation remains in force until 1 May 2020. The changes in the normal routine affect, among other things, schools, cultural activities, and cruises. No public events are allowed.
The government of Estonia is currently restricting crossing of the Schengen internal and external borders temporarily, i.e. has reintroduced full border control in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The Estonian islands of Hiiumaa, Saaremaa, Muhumaa, Vormsi, Kihnu and Ruhnu have been declared as an isolated area, to which only permanent residents of the islands are allowed to enter.
Shopping centres, museums, cinemas, night clubs, casinos, spas (both as separate units as well as the ones operated within hotels), sport clubs, gyms and children’s play rooms will be kept closed in Estonia until the beginning of May or as long as the Governmental Crisis Committee declares otherwise. No theatre performances, concerts, sports competitions, conferences or other public gathering will be held during the period either.
At least 2 meters distance between people should be kept in public places, such as outdoor playgrounds, sports grounds, beaches, promenades, health and hiking trails and indoors, except in homes and when this cannot be ensured. Up to two people are allowed to be together in public space. This restriction does not apply to families living and moving around together, and to people performing public duties.
