Original Sokos Hotel Viru opens Superior hotel wing

Press release 14.02.2020

Original Sokos Hotel Viru in the heart of Tallinn will get a 93-room Superior hotel wing after Solo Sokos Hotel Estoria and Viru will be merged. Estoria, which has become known as a hotel of Estonian stories and design, will stop operating as previous on April 29th 2020.

Every room in Solo Sokos Hotel Estoria, which was opened in 2014, was designed to represent a success story of Estonia and Estonians. Public rooms and rest areas also told their visual stories, as they were furnished with the interior design elements and furniture created by award-winning local designers. The exciting stories and smart design of Estoria will continue living in the Superior wing that will be opened in spring 2020 and offer our guests front-row seats to local life and culture. The quality night’s sleep and peaceful atmosphere, which have received high praise from Estoria’s guests so far, will remain parts of the accommodation experience of guests staying in the Superior wing of Viru.

“We’re turning Viru into a more interesting and diverse destination,” says Klaus Ek, Managing Director of Original Sokos Hotel Viru. “Last year, we open a cozy roof bar on the 23rd floor, next door to the popular KGB Museum. The conference and banquet centre has received a thorough makeover in recent years. This spring, we will considerably improve the reception experience in addition to the 93 Superior rooms by turning the lobby into a more inviting meeting place that offers a more seamless service to guests. We will add several family rooms to the capacity and update the diverse Original breakfast in terms of product selection and display. As a result of the merger of the hotels, Viru will be offering even more diverse accommodation options and a clearer visitation experience to all of our client segments.”

For decades, Hotel Viru has been a busy city hotel where the past and the present meet in a very unique and exciting way. In the future, the hotel in the heart of Tallinn will offer, in addition to the best local life recommendations made by the hotel staff, an even broader selection of rooms with great views from Standard rooms to suites and family rooms to Superior rooms. In addition to 516 hotel rooms, Original Sokos Hotel Viru has several restaurants, wellness and entertainment services, a conference and banquet centre, shopping centre, panoramic bar and the KGB Museum – all under the same roof. The economic activities of Hotel Viru are operated by AS Sokotel, a subsidiary of the SOK Group, and it belongs to the Original by Sokos Hotels chain.
