Revamped Maritime Museum Opens its Doors
One of Tallinn’s star attractions and most exotic event venues, the Estonian Maritime Museum, has just reopened after a two-year, top-to-bottom overhaul. The museum, built into the medieval-era Fat Margaret cannon tower at the edge of Old Town, has modernised its exhibit on country’s seafaring history adding dozens of hands-on displays and an exciting new draw: a 700-year-old shipwreck unearthed on the city shore in 2015.
Museums have recently been growing in popularity as alternative event venues and the Maritime Museum is no exception. Its reopening gives organisers the chance to set up meetings and other gatherings amid model ships and other nautical curiosities. In summer, the museum’s rooftop terrace is available for rent – a great option thanks to its stunning views of Old Town and Tallinn Bay.
