The best restaurants of Estonia have just been announced by the by the culinary guidebook White Guide 2022. The list of 82 best restaurants in Estonia includes also 7 restaurants from Tartu.
The culinary guidebook divides the top Baltic and Nordic restaurants into four categories: Global Masters Level, Masters Level, Very Fine Level, and Fine Level. Also, recommended restaurants deserve an extra mention.
According to the White Guide 2022 the top 7 restaurants of Tartu are (in order of precedence): Hõlm (76/31), Antoniuse Restoran (69/27), GMP Patisserie (67/27), Kampus (66/26), Meat Market Steak & Cocktail (63/26), Aparaat (60/25), Cafe Truffe (60/25).
According to the classification of White Guide, there is one restaurant of Very Fine Level (minimum of 67 points in total and at least 28 points for food quality) in Tartu – Restaurant Hõlm. Other restaurants that made it to the list, met the requirements for Fine Level (at least 60 points in total during the evaluation with minimum 22 points for food). There are no restaurants of Masters Level in Tartu, but all in all only 5 restaurants in Estonia meet the requirements of Masters Level.
The White Guide estimates the level, direction and quality of a restaurant’s food, beverages, service, and ambiance, including how innovative the restaurant is and the general quality, seasonality and origin of the ingredients. The rating-scale is based on a total of 100 points. Tallied separately, the greatest amount of weight is placed on the food, i.e. the restaurant’s gastronomy. In all areas of assessment, extra weight is given to idea, concept, focus and personality.
